Across The Grey

Running scared across the grey
Telephone rings again today
If some is all you can have this way
You'd rather have none and go away
When you're one instead of three
A moment's chance you may agree
That if to have all is not to be
Make the most of some of me.
Sorry for the interruption
And the bribery, corruption,
Sorry for the heart that breaks
Sorry for the legs that ache
From running scared across the grey
When telephone rings again today
But fear not if there's no-one there
No-one can be someone that dares to care
I wait and wait, hope and dream
Here in the brown, neath blue on green
Wonder what you’re doing today
Out there in the grey.
